About a Word in the Index of Qutad?u Bilig II: on the alıq ‘bad’
It has been over 70 years since Qutad?u Bilig was edited. During this time, many new readings and explanations have been presented about this edition and edition’s index. In edition every problematic word must be reconsidered. Dîvânü Lu?ati’t-Türk is the most important reference source for reading and understanding the words in Qutad?u Bilig. Before us several proposals have been made about the meaning of the alıq in the text. These proposals will be evaluated and proposed a new explanation.
