The Relationship Between Food And Gender In Turkish Folk Culture
Food, from the first impression, can be considered as all the nurture and beverage that help people survive. However, approaching as a survival activity or a culture grounded in the organizations reveals its relationship with the issues such as status, place, religion, and gender. The main purpose of the article is to analyze the relationship between the food culture, which can be observed as the cultural adoptions and practices system including café culture, outstanding restaurants, presentation, dressing and designs, forbidden and uneatable foods, and preferred foods relying on the gender; and status, place, religion, and especially gender. In this regard, the food’s status, place, and religion are studied in the article and its close relationship with gender is analyzed so that food and gender culture can be clearly understood.
