Teaching Assistant as a New Proposal to the Turkish Education System with the Sample of UK
In this study, the concept of teaching assistant will be discussed as a novelty proposal for the education system and the application of this profession in England will be mentioned. Teaching assistant defined as employed in educational establishments, assigned to assist in teaching to the class when necessary and where necessary employed in other parts of educational institutions and contributing to the education and training process. Teaching Assistants are in charge of education at every stage pre-school education to higher schools in America, Canada, Australia and many European countries as well as UK. Teaching assistants participate with teacher and help them in class. At the same time, they work like a second teacher, ensuring that students are adapting to the classroom, allowing students who have learning difficulties to attend classes. Teaching Assistants can work individually with students who have difficulty in learning as well as in a group work. This profession, which is not implemented as a government policy in Turkey, has been evaluated as beneficial and it has been brought into the agenda to be implemented in the Turkish education system.
