The Passion Of Ruling And Power İn Orhan Asena’s Play “Tanrılar ve İnsanlar (Gılgameş)
Orhan Asena who was born in 1922 in Diyarbakır dedicated himself totally to theatre although he began his literary career as a poet. As a playwriter he has written many plays and his works are represented in a number theatres. The writer who has written about many topics including changes in the sociocultural life, the woman question, the passion for power, rebellion, Karagoz plays, plays for children, etc. sees the mankind as a whole with his virtues weak sides. He has written a series of plays which deal with the passion of mankind for power and his struggle to gain it in his work named Tanrılar ve İnsanlar (Gılgameş) which has brought him a great fame. He tries to understand the relation between man and power through getting use of mythology and the hero of the oldest epic of the history. Our aim in this assertion is to exhibit the way the author handles the issue of man and his passion for power, one of the main themes in his plays, through analyzing the play entitled Tanrılar ve İnsanlar (Gılgameş).
