Metonymy For The Concept Of “Doomsday” Used As The Inter Linear Qur’an Translations In The East And West Turkish
The examples of inter linear Qur'anic translation emerged as a timely need to understand, question and learn the core and principles of the Qur'an were seen in the East Turkish in the 10th century, and this tradition has continued in the West Turkish until the certain period.
Metonymycal structures which are included as a concept enriching feature in prose and poetry are one of the elements that give life to the narrative in literary texts.
In explaining a concept by another one that has relations with the former, in operating connections, being closeness, instead of saying the names of something directly, relating one feature or symbol with it, sinekdoche is also associated with the concept including metaphor and part-whole relations and vice-versa.
This study aims to show the richness of the concept and the expression power of the metonymy by focusing on the concept of the “doomsday” in the East and West Turkish Qur’an translations; it has been observed that the concept is met by a rich vocabulary based on the metonymy.
