Determinations on the Archery Book Hulâsa Written in Mamluk Kipchak
Mamluk Kipchak; It is a general name given to the language of the works written and produced in the Mamluk State geography, which ruled from 1250 to 1517 in Egypt and Syria. Mamluk-Kipchak is a common term that has been used as the term name for this period since ancient times. The works written with Mamluk-Kipchak do not show complete integrity in terms of language features. In the works written in this period, the characteristics of Harezm, Oghuz, Kipchak Turkish written languages are seen more or less mixed. In this context, Janos Eckmann examines the works written in Mamluk-Kipchak under three groups: 1. Original Mamluk Kipchak, 2. Oghuz-Kipchak mixed dialect, 3. Ottoman Turkish. Hulâsa is the oldest known work on archery written in Turkish. The Istanbul manuscript of Hulâsa was written with the mixed dialect of Oghuz-Kipchak, in which Kipchak features are seen more, and the Paris version was written with Oghuz-Kipchak dialect dominated by Oghuz Turkish. In this study, grammatical issues such as consonant changes, vowel changes, affix changes, changes in word cast and expression changes, which are generally seen in the manuscripts of Hulâsa's Istanbul and Paris, are examined by comparing them. Thus, in the manuscripts of Hulâsa written in mixed dialect in the Mamluk field, the general view of the mixed language features was tried to be revealed.
