Abstract Reşat Nuri Güntekin is regarded as one of the leading names who has enlarged the site map of our literature through his works. The author who is aware that knowing geography and places means being aware of our human beings never misses any opportunity he gains to make use of it for observing the interactions between human and places. The coffeehouses which employ numerous qualifications within them are the first stops wherever he travels, and he aims to reveal the places and significance of those institutions for our people through his works. While performing this, he makes the coffee houses one of the elements of the aesthetics of novel. Those institutions which perform the duty of civilizing in various forms in his works are the shelters for needy and lonely people and they provide human beings the opportunity of becoming socialized. First steps are taken here for a new life, important decisions are taken after thinking thoroughly. The coffee houses which are the most convenient places for fingering on the pulses of the society are also the places where we can see various reflections of public decency.
