An Unknown Poet In 17 th Century: Aşki From Pravadi And His Divan
In our literature history, there are numerous poets that any information of their lives cannot be found in the collection of biographies and biographical references. Knowledge about most of these poets is limited to certain information, which they gave about their lives and periods they live in their works, and estimations made through these details. Aşki from Pravadi is one of our poets whose life is limited to certain information in his work Dîvân . Dîvân is the only work of Aşki, for now. According to the life history written on his life in this work, Süleyman is the original name of the poet who was born in Pravadi which is a town of Varna located in Black Sea coast, east of Bulgaria. He came to Istanbul at a young age and had education in Enderun (special school in the ottoman palace), and died at a young age although he had taken positions here in. Date of his death is not certain. However, as he replied in kind to poems of poets such like Bâkî, Nef’î, Sabrî, Cevrî, Ulvî and Vehbî and made tahmis (a poetry style), and wrote certain poems in glowing terms to IV. Mehmed who was emperor between the years of 1648 and 1693, it is considered that he lived in 17th century. In this study, from Dîvân , it has been made certain evaluations and estimations about life of Aşki from Pravadi and the period he lived and emphasized on the form and contents of Dîvân.
