Özet
Tanzimat ile birlikte Osmanlı’da ekonomik ve kültürel alanlarda olduğu gibi sosyal alanda da köklü değişimler ve yenilikler meydana gelir. Bu değişim ve yeniliklerden biri de Tanzimat dönemi eserlerinin konu ve temalarında görülür. Yazılan hikâye ve romanlarda Boğaziçi ve çevresi güzellik ve eğlence mekânı olarak kullanılmaya başlanır. Deniz, bu dönem eserlerinde güzellik mekânı olmasının yanında kayık ve sandal sefaları ile mehtap ve vapur gezintileri gibi eğlence unsuru olarak da ele alınır.
Bu çalışmada denizin, Tanzimat hikâye ve romanlarında bir mekân unsuru olarak nasıl ele alındığı, o dönem sosyal yaşantısına etkileri ve yazarların denize bakış açıları üzerinde durulacaktır.

Abstract
Reforms in the Ottoman Empire, economic and cultural fields, as well as with the radical changes in the social field and innovations occur. One of these changes and innovations, issues and themes seen in the works of the Tanzimat period. Written stories and novels, the Bosphorus and the surrounding area as a place of beauty and recreation is used.
In this study, the sea, the Tanzimat novels, stories and how they deal with as an element of a space, the effects of social life of that period, and the authors will focus on the perspectives of the sea.
