Existential Function of The Game In Oguz Atay’s Works
Oğuz ATAY who had gained important position in the Turkish literature in 1970s had gollowed philosophical trend which are tended in his term by way of his intellectual characteristic. Among these trends, existentialism had had important place. Oğuz ATAY had used ideas which are under influence of existentialists as Kierkegaard, Heiddeger, Sartre, Camus and Kafka on his works. Therewithal, he has an idiosyncratic existential understanding. In this sense, he rounded new specialities to ''game'' concept. Oğuz ATAY sees ''game'' as an existance area which individuals realize themselves. Therefore, characters who are out of society, alone and estranges crouch down to games as an area which they can freely gain their existence. According to them, life and game are mixed and life is a place which is to role, and game becomes real place to exist as truth. In this work, connection between game and life, psychological and philosophical bases which are background on game concept and wyhy they are perseveringly mentioned in Oğuz ATAY's works are going to be clarified. Therewithal, answers of ''what are functions of game conncept on mankind existence?'' and ''what does game concept mean for Oğuz ATAY?'' questions are going to be explained.
