THE CONCEPT OF “ÂH” IN AHMED PASHA DIVAN
Curse is one of the most handled subjects in divan literature. Lover curses as a result of moral elements such as rival, seperation, lover’s mercilessness,coyness, cruelty, sorrow chiefly her beauty, dimple, cheek, smell, neck and lovelock. These curses have been resembled to such elements as ram, arrow, ceres, rad, huruş, çerağ, ferras, şu’le (şule= flame), fire, smog, bad-ı seher, wind, flag and reed in Ottoman (divan poetry).
We’ll try to explain the concept of curse and its reasons in this article. We’ll benefit from the sample couplets we chose from Ahmet Paşa Divanı as trying to explain.
