A Review of The Nihâl Journal (1303-1305 Ah)
Periodicals such as newspapers or journals had a major effect on the development of Turkish literature in the Tanzimât period. These periodicals introduced many Western literary genres as well as new social concepts. Journals became more popular with the proclamation of the Constitutional Era. Newspapers, on the other hand, were more popular in the Tanzimât. Journals revived and enriched the culture and the literary world in general. A more suitable environment was created for literary arguments, and many people took the opportunity to make their name in literature. Nihâl was published in nine issues between 1303 and 1305 AH with the works of a group of unknown people who served as a bridge between Tanzimât literature and Servet-i Funûn literature. Its structure and content, which can be reviewed since it has only nine issues, will be evaluated with a chronological index like the evaluations of studies of periodicals. The objective of this study is to contribute to reviews of the literary environment and arguments and to provide data for monographic studies that were conducted or will be conducted on the literary people whose works were published in the journal.
