The Frequency of Kinship Names in the Book of Dede Korkut
The Book of Dede Korkut is one of the most important works of Turkish literature and Turkish language history. The richness of its content is a known fact. Although we talk about the absence of a standard Turkish in the works in terms of language reviews, it is very rich in vocabulary. Especially names related to kinship and family relations are highly developed and advanced in Turkish language compared to other languages. These kinship names are quite high in Dede Korkut Book which is one of the most important texts of Oghuz Turks. There are a total of 56 kinship related words in the Dresden copy of The Book of Dede Korkut. The frequency of words related to men is more than the words related to women in The Book of Dede Korkut. However, when we examine the development of the historical Turkish language and XVI. century, “The Book of Dede Korkut has given too much space to women in the period when it was held” is the result.
