Abstract

Ali Şîr Nevâyî’nin “Seb‘a-i Seyyâr” Adlı Eserinde Bildirme Kipleri

Alisher Nevayi (1441-1501) made immensely valuable contributions to Turkish literature, language, and culture. He encapsulated all the beauty of his era within his own language and art. He is one of the most significant figures in Turkish literature. Nevayi is regarded as the founder of Chagatai Turkish. Through his extensive and richly contented literary works, he demonstrated that Turkish is not merely a classical poetic language, but also a cultural language with expressive power in both verse and prose. In this regard, Nevayi is not only a literary figure who used the language of his era in the most comprehensive manner, but also a linguist and scholar who ensured that this rich linguistic heritage has been preserved for future generations. The Seb‘a-i Seyyar, is the fourth masnavi of Nevayi’s Hamse and is a large-scale literary work written in 1484. As a poetic work, Seb‘a-i Seyyar is composed not in plain language but with an artful and literary language. In addition to its rich Turkish vocabulary, the work contains comprehensive grammatical structures of the Turkish language and encompasses the phonetic, morphological, and characteristic features of Chagatai Turkish, which imparts a special value to the work in terms of Turkish linguistics. In this study, we aimed to analyse the indicative moods within the grammatical structure of Seb‘a-i Seyyar. In our study, we have based our work on Volume 10 of the “Mukemmel Eserler Toplamı” of Alisher Nevayi titled Hamse - Seb‘a-i Seyyar, which was prepared in 20 volumes by M. Mirzaahmedova and published in 1992 in Tashkent by the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, “FAN” Publishing.
