Abstract

Bir Toplumsal Dil Türü: Türkçe Ekonomi Dili

This study thoroughly examines the structure, vocabulary, and usage areas of the language of economics in Turkish. The language of economics is a type of language with a dynamic and multidimensional structure that changes rapidly due to the effects of globalization and technological developments. The evolving economic structures, the globalization of financial markets, and local economic policies have led to the evolution of the language of economics both terminologically and structurally. The study investigates how key components of the language of economics in Turkish, such as inflation, interest rates, central bank policies, exchange rates, and other macroeconomic terms, create a linguistic structure. These terms not only carry financial and economic meanings but are also widely used in media, education, daily life, and among the public. The study highlights how the language of economics, by interacting with global economic processes, has led to the incorporation of English-origin terms into Turkish, expanding the language's reach to a broader audience. Furthermore, it has been observed that the language of economics in Turkish varies according to factors such as social class, education level, and profession, contributing to the diversity of the language. Although the language of economics is primarily used by experts, it serves as a bridge to ensure its accessibility to the general public and its effective use in daily life. In conclusion, examining the language of economics in Turkish plays a crucial role in enhancing the comprehensibility of economic processes for both experts and the public.
