AS A REAL POEM THIEF ŞERIFI AND HIS STOLEN DIVAN
There are some determinations that Classical Turkish literature poets made plogiorism by taking phrase, verse, couplet and rarely all the poem. There have been some cases that a work of art written in other languages adapted in to Turkish without citations. But it is not common that stealing from a poet the entire poem and showing it as a new work. The divan which copied by Şerifi has just one copy today. The poems in that divan are almost same with KuloğluŞeyhHacıİlyas’s work of art called Bağ-ı Behişt. It raises the suspicion of plagiarism. Şerifi’s divan comprises half of Bağ-ı Behişt’s poems. At the Şerifi’s divan there are 205 poems and in the Bağ-ı Behişt there are 402 poems. The sequence of poems in divan are also similar with Bağ-ı Behişt. Two poems to be replicated in the same way in two different pseudonyms mean: 1- The poet had been used for a certain period and then change the pseudonym with a new one. 2- This may be a case of plagiarism. If a pseudonym change is not in question and could be considered plagiarism. Then it is important question as to who did the plagiarism. In the case of this study, it is discussed which probability –pseudonym change or plagiarism- had made and if there is plagiarism, who did it.
