Hendiadyoins in Novel of Türk’ün Kayıp Kitabı Ulu Han Ana
Türk’ün Kayıp Kitabı Ulu Han Ana is a novel based on the myth of the creation of the Turks. Ulu Han Ana Bitigçi is the name of a missing book. In the time of the Mamluks (Kipchak Turkish State) in Egypt, Ebûbekr bin Abdullah bin Aybek ed-Devâdârî saw this book in the 1330s and wrote the information in the book. Türk’ün Kayıp Kitabı Ulu Han Ana is based on the discovery of this book. He has a style that trains the reader from the Egyptian pyramids, from Ahlat to Hawaii in continuous novels. Epic narratives and lyrical depictions brought vitality to the novel.
Another feature that gives vitality to the Türk’ün Kayıp Kitabı Ulu Han Ana novel is that he has a smooth and simple style. The only element that provides this is the language used. In addition to many idioms and analogy statements, the hendiadyoins used in the novel are another factor that gives life to the language of the novel. In this study, 167 hendiadyoins used in the novel were determined and all these hendiadyoins were classified according to their usage numbers and meanings. The hendiadyoins that are used according to both the structural and semantic characteristics have been subclassified after a general classification in the form of hendiadyoins based on the same word, the hendiadyoins formed by separate words, a word meaningful hendiadyoins, hendiadyoins formed by close-meaning words, contrasting hendiadyoins. One of the elements of the richness of a language is the word repetition called hendiadyoin. It is noteworthy that these word repetitions are used in a functional way by a Turkologist.
