An Evaluation On Idioms Common In Komotini Accent
Idioms are made up phrases that do not imply the literal meaning but create new concepts in the form of formulaic expressions. Considering the use of idioms since the existence of the precious Turkish nation, it is an essential issue as an accumulated experience and reflection in vast geographical lands and climates. Since idioms attribute liveliness, fluency and richness to the expression, they play an important role on the vocabulary of a language. This study aims to identify and classify the idioms detected in Western-Thrace – Komotini Turkish accent. The idioms that were obtained are from compilation texts of studies conducted on local accent, and also from other type of evaluation; an analysis conducted on origin, structure, meaning and syntax.
