On the Name of “Yaglakar” and the Meaning of the Word “Karı” in the Karı Cor Tegin Inscription
The old Turkic inscriptions with Turkic runic letters have gained all the attention since the day they were first discovered and published. Topics such as Turkic language, history, culture and art have been at the center of attention of Central and Inner Asian peoples as well as Turks. In the first part of this study, the discussions on the reading and interpretation of the name of Yaglakar will be emphasized and the name of this dynasty of Uyghurs will be evaluated in terms of both morphology and semantics. In the second part, the Karı Cor Tegin, grandson of Moyan Cor Khan, who is also known as the Xi’an inscription and who owns the Old Turkic-Chinese bilingual tombstone, which was found a few years ago, and who was also known as Yaglakar Han, the second kagan of the Uighurs the meaning of the word karı will be emphasized. Moving from the forms of the word karı in the other old Turkic inscriptions, it will be mentioned that the word should have been called the karı in memory the of Moyan Cor Khan. The reason why the word karı is written with a single Chinese character will be the main target of this study.
