Özet
Üsküdar as a Place of Love in the 1923-1950 Period Turkish Novel
Love, one of the most sublime feelings of human beings, is one of the elements that form the basis of art. Most of the works produced by artists in almost all types of art are shaped around the subject of love. While the feeling of love surrounds the soul of the artist, it also affects his/her perception of the outside world. The artist reflects his/her feelings to the work of art by perceiving the environment with the effect of this feeling. One of the literary genres in which the subject of love is handled the most is the novel. Love novels, which are accepted as masterpieces in Turkish and World literature, have been translated into different languages and read with interest by people for years. As love is related to the inner world of a person, the outer world is one of the important factors that nourish and complement love. Therefore, there are places that are associated and identified with love. With its Bosphorus, Üsküdar and Çamlıca, the Islands and many more natural beauties and views, Istanbul has been accepted by some novelists as the city of love and entered the works as a place of love. In many novels where the feeling of love is handled and the place is Istanbul, Üsküdar, especially Çamlıca, with its scenery and natural beauties, enriches the works as a place of love that witnesses the love of couples, experiences their love and adds beauty to their love. Çamlıca, which is one of the two hills that artists look at the world in the Turkish literature that developed after the Tanzimat, is an important place in the novels of this generation, as well as the interest of artists in Çamlıca in general and Üsküdar in general until today. It is seen that Üsküdar is reflected in the works as a place of love in the novels of the Republic period, as in the first period novels. In this article, how Üsküdar is treated as a place of love in the 1923-1950 period Turkish novel is discussed in the context of human space coexistence.
