Özet
Traces of Classıcal Turkish Literature in The Poems of Hilmi Yavuz
Classical Turkish literature, which seems to end in the second half of the nineteenth century, has persisted in the works of many poets and writers in various forms such as vocabulary, propositions and patterns since that time. This is called benefiting from the traditions today. One poet and writer who does so is Hilmi Yavuz.
Hilmi Yavuz was first acquainted with Classical Turkish poems by his father, Yahya Hikmet Yavuz, at an early age when Hilmi Yavuz heard his father reading them aloud. He began to be interested in Classical poems then. Traces of Classical Turkish literature are seen most clearly in his "summer poems". However, Hilmi Yavuz’s other works also have the traces of traditional poems. These traces include sounds, phrases, images and symbols. There are also elements of Islamic mysticism in his poems.
We aim to specify, examine and evaluate the traces of Classical Turkish literature in the poems of Hilmi Yavuz.
