Mythological And Legendary Heroes In Bâkî’s Divân
Islamic culture, religion and Sufism, love stories, cosmic world and nature are taken part among the basic elements that support Ottoman Poetry in terms of content. This literature composed by effect of Persian Poetry has been greatly benefited from this culture both as formal factors and content. Eastern Mythology and Heroes of Eastern Mythology are used both in Persian poetry and Ottoman poetry. Mythological narrative and heroes in Avesta which scripture of Zoroastrianism and in Şeh-nâme of Firdevsî have been used as either comparison or simile in these literatures. Bâkî who was a famous poet of 16th century and Ottoman Poetry had widely given place to mythological factors and heroes. Bâkî that mentioned about many heroes of Persian Mythology with various matters knew how to benefit from rich semantic world, sometimes in order to express sublimity of emperor, state beauty of love and show self-power of poetry. It is examined the mythological heroes in Divan of Mahmud Abdulbâkî who called as “Sultan of the Poet” and attempted to find how this heroes used. It is hereby aimed to be obtained new ideas related to sources of ottoman poetry and richness of imaginary world of poet.
