Some Contributions to the Dictionary of Compiled Dialects in Regard to “Woman” Concept
Human make various discriminations and classifications in order to facilitate his life and make his environment more comprehensible. Human naming the entities and concepts around him is one of the primary classifications. Naming has an important place in the vocabulary of a language. In this study, the concept of “woman” was discussed from the onomatological point of view based on Turkey Turkish dialects. Turkey Turkish dialects have richer vocabulary compared to vocabulary of the standard language. There are many reasons for this richness of concepts. One of these reasons is that Anatolian dialects benefited from all expression possibilities and derivation rules for centuries. In this study namings about the concept of “woman” were classified in terms of meaning connections. Usages that are not included in the dictionary of compiled dialects and that are included but refer to different meanings were marked, and thus some contributions made to the dictionary.
