ABSTRACT
In order to understand Yahya Kemal Beyatli well, who has his prominent role in the new pursuits of modern Turkish poetry without disregarding its roots, his memories in Skopje need to be clearly known. Skopje has a very distinct place in the formation of poet’s historical, political and religious views, accordingly in the development of the content of his poetry. Without his years and memories in Skopje, commenting on Beyatli’s world views and the content of his poetry would produce wrong and deficient results.
When it comes to Yahya Kemal, who has a very significant place in the modernisation of Turkish literature, every one of information, book, person and even materials having the speciality of being the first in his life gains more importance.
