THE PLACE OF BEKIR YILDIZ IN TURKISH LITERATURE AND AN ANALYSIS OF HIS STORY “KAÇAKÇI ŞAHAN” (SMUGGLER ŞAHAN)
BekirYıldız is a well-known story and novel writer of recent epoch. In most of his works, he handles social matters; especially he depicts the problems of East and Southeast Anatolia by a realistic and clear narration. His story “KaçakçıŞahan” is on the sorrowful and miserable life of a peasant who tries to survive by smuggling because of his poorness. Şahan’s life story resembles to an actual event known as “Uludere” (28 December 2011). In this descriptive study, among qualitative research methods, documental analysis is used. In the study, the place of Yıldız in our literature and social, political and economical matters in terms of “KaçakçıŞahan” are mentioned. At the end of the study, it is manifested that according to the writer’s point of view smuggling is a necessary way of earning life for the people of the region and those people cannot give up this work although many lost their lives.
