PREPARED FOR TEACHING TURKISH "MAHRU WITH HUBÇEHRE" and "ŞİRİN ŞEMAYİL" STORIES
When we look at Classical Turkish literature products, there are many works written about the Prophet and his life, his qualifications and virtues. These works were sometimes written separately and sometimes constituted a separate part inside a work. Mi’râc incident, which happened on the 27th night of the month of Recep nearly one year before Hegira, was discussed with great enthusiasm by the Ottoman poets and authors under several verse types in such written works. Mi’râcs which were generated in verse, prose or verse-prose were composed by the Prophet’s visit to the Grand Mosque and Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa and as a result reaching Almighty God and receiving divine orders by Him. Renowned for naats among our 18th century poets, Nazîm Yahya (d. 1727) wrote a Mi’râciyye in the form of mesnevi verse in the Divan that he conducted. This study will be touching on the importance of the Mi’râc incident, Mi’râcs or Mi’râc-nâme verse type and some major mi’râcs written in Turkish literature, and then explain Nazîm Yahya’s life and literary personality and the shape, style and content characteristics of mi’râc. At the end of the study, we will give the transcribed form of mi’râc which constitutes the main subject for us.
