Özet
Halide Edib, gerek fikirleri ve gerekse icraatlarıyla millî mücadele, eğitim, sosyal haklar ve edebiyat alanlarında iz bırakmış çok yönlü bir insandır. Elini attığı her mecrada ses getiren varlığı onu birçok araştırmanın odak noktası durumuna getirmiştir. Bu çalışmada Halide Edib’in romanlarında baba kavramı üzerinde durulmuş; baba rolünün yazar ve yazarın içinde bulunduğu toplum tarafından nasıl tanımlandığı ve algılandığı tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırma betimsel analiz modelindedir. Veriler Seviyye Talip, Yeni Turan, Handan, Son Eseri, Mev’ut Hüküm, Ateşten Gömlek, Vurun Kahpeye adlı romanlardan hareketle elde edilmiştir.
Sonuç olarak, incelenen eserlerde babaların herhangi bir sebepten dolayı erken yaşta öldükleri ya da yaşıyor olsalar bile çocuklarıyla güçlü bağlar kuramadıkları anlatılır. Yani baba, hayal meyal hatırlanılan ve muhayyelde yaşayan bir varlık ya da biyolojik bağın ötesine geçememiş bir kimliktir. Duygusal yönden çocuğu ile güçlü bir etkileşim kuramamış olsa da baba, evladını koruyup gözeten, doyurup giydiren varlıktır, yani insan yavrusunun güvencesidir. Babasızlık Ateşten Gömlek ve Yeni Turan romanlarında, erken yaşlarda hayatın yükünü sırtlamak olarak görülür. Elde edilen tespitlerden bir diğeri de baba özleminin açtığı duygusal boşluğun çocuğa kol kanaat geren şefkatli insanların varlığıyla giderilmeye çalışılmasıdır. Özetle, baba kimliğine sahip kişilerin çocuğun dünyasını aralayıp benliğinde güçler izler bırakmadığı ve onların sevgilerini kazanamadıklarını söylemek mümkündür.

Abstract
Halide Edib is a versatile person who has left a mark in the fields of national struggle, education, social rights and literature, both with her ideas and actions. Its presence, which has made a sound in every medium it throws, has made it the focus of many researches. In this study, the concept of father was emphasized in Halide Edib's novels; It is tried to be determined how the role of father is defined and perceived by the writer and the society in which the writer is located. The research is in descriptive analysis model. The data were obtained from the novels named Seviyye Talip, Yeni Turan, Handan, Son Eseri, Mev'ut Hüküm, Ateşten Gömlek, Vurun Kahpeye.
As a result, it is explained in the analyzed works that fathers died at an early age for any reason or that they could not establish strong bonds with their children even if they were alive. In other words, a father is an imaginary and imaginative being or an identity that cannot go beyond the biological bond. Although he could not have a strong interaction with his child emotionally, the father is the being that protects and feeds his child, that is, the assurance of the human offspring. Fatherlessness is seen as backing the burden of life at an early age in the novels Ateşten Gömlek and Yeni Turan. Another of the findings obtained is to try to eliminate the emotional gap created by the longing of the father with the presence of compassionate people who feel the child's opinion. In summary, it is possible to say that people who have a father's identity do not open the world of the child and leave powers traces in their ego and they cannot win their love.
